Outdoor Retailers
This suite of tours has been especially designed for those of you attending the Outdoor Retailers Convention. We want to give you a taste of those places not usually seen. Most of these tours are outside, so bring your cold weather gear. We’ll be happy to supply you with any additional information you need. All tours depart from the east side of Salt Palace. |
Salt Lake’s Outback - Day Tours
For those who have a few hours or a day, discover new worlds just outside Salt Lake City. We provide transportation, admissions & tickets, snacks, and drinks. Guests supply enthusiasm.
Beer Tasting & Brewery Tour - 3 hours $30/person
Departs – 11:00 am, Friday, 27 January 2006
Uinta specializes in fresh, full flavored brewed beers. Their beers are all natural, preservative free, and brewed with wind power. Join us for a tour of their new brewery, beer tasting with their brew meister, and soup & sandwiches. Guests must be 21 or older to taste the beers. Min. 9 guests. More info
Antelope Island & Garr Ranch- 6 hours $120/person
Departs – 9:00 am, Tuesday, 1 February 2006
You won’t find any “Do Not Touch” signs here! This is a living museum of the island and ranch life from the Paleo-Indian through the ranching years. Wander through the old ranch house and outbuildings. See what ranch life was really like in the late 1800’s through to the mid-1900’s. The island is also home to bison, antelope, mountain sheep, deer, coyotes, etc. They seem to be more active in the winter without the throngs of tourists. We’ll likely see Whisper, a very affectionate deer. She thinks people come just to see her and scratch her itchy spots. Lunch is included. Min. 8 guests. More info
Fly Fishing on the Provo River - 4 hours $150/person
Departs – 12 noon, Friday, 27 January 2006
Spend a relaxing day fly fishing with our experienced guides on the Provo River, home to 3,000 rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout per mile. Our guides welcome first-time and experienced anglers. Winter is a great time for fishing. We include waders, boots, rod, reel, and artificial flies. A Utah State fishing license is required. This is available for $12 at www.utahflyfishingguides.com). Snowmobiling – 3 hours $130/person

All our snowmobile trips are set against the dramatic backdrop of the Majestic Wasatch Range. New, powerful Polaris snowmobiles make the going easy for beginners, experts, and everyone in between. The trip kicks off with a ride to 11,000-foot Hidden Peak aboard Snowbird’s world-famous Aerial Tram. From the peak a brief ride on a quad chair lift takes you to your waiting snowmobile in beautiful Mineral Basin. Min. 8 guests
Utah’s Wild West Tours
These Tours take our guests on the roads less traveled. Transportation, motels (dbl/occ), most meals, snacks, drinks, and admissions provided. You supply personal stuff and enthusiasm. During bad weather routes may be altered to fit conditions. Min. 8 guests
Nine-Mile Canyon Rock Art & Pioneers – 2 days/1 night $265/person
Departs – 8.30 am, Thursday, 26 January 2006. Returns – ~4:00 pm, Friday, 27 January 2006
Nine-Mile Canyon is often called the “longest art gallery in the world” and the Canyon is much more than nine miles long. For centuries, the ancient and modern Native Americans have used this canyon and their rock art abounds. In the mid-1800’s, explorers and settlers discovered the canyon and added their history, much of it as signatures written with axle grease. Then there were the “Buffalo Soldiers” who ran the first telegraph through the area. . . History abounds here. One of the local folk will guide us through the sights of the area. More info
Canyon Country, Arches & Canyonlands – 3 days/2 nights $375/person

Winter may be the most spectacular time to visit Arches & Canyonlands National Parks. The light’s beautiful and a bit of snow can add an amazing touch. Join us for an intimate view of these wonderful parks via the roads less traveled. We’ll stay in downtown Moab so you can enjoy the hospitality of this small town and some of its great shopping, restaurants, & brew pubs. We squeeze if as much fun as time allows, but we always run out of time before the fun is over. Maybe we can make it to one of the wineries in the area for a sampling of their best.
