Stress
to our wildlands becomes more evident each year as people
flock to these fragile desert areas. To help preserve our
wildlands, the U.S.
Forest Service has partnered with the National
Outdoor Leadership School to develop the Leave No Trace
(LNT) program. The principle behind LNT is to travel and camp
with care when visiting wildlands to preserve them for the
next visitors.
The
Southwest environment is a combination of majestic
and fragile. By planning our adventures for small groups we
can provide a more enjoyable experience, focus on individual
needs, and minimize the impact on the environment. Practicing
the LNT principles enables us to enjoy our wildlands while
preserving them for those who follow.
Education
is key to spreading the work about LNT. We try to educate
our guests so more of us can visit the wild places that call
to us and ensure they are wild for the next guests too. |
